Saturday Morning Session

President Russell M. Nelson of the Church gave the opening remark by emphasizing the Lord’s direction of the Church — even during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

“Some lessons that I knew before have been written on my heart in new and instructive ways. The Lord directs the affairs of His Church; He has executed the hastening of His work — even during a global pandemic,” he said.

“My dear brothers and sisters, the strength of the Church lies in the efforts and ever-growing testimonies of its members,” he continued. “Testimonies are best cultivated in the home.”

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf taught that “God is among us” and personally involved in the lives of His children and actively guiding them. “Open your hearts to our Savior and Redeemer, no matter your circumstances, trials, sufferings or mistakes,” he said. “You can know that He lives, that He loves you, and because of Him, you will never be alone.”

President Joy D. Jones emphasized that simple yet essential conversations about the gospel can lead children to know what they believe and why they believe it. “Let’s not allow the convenience of electronic devices to keep us from teaching and listening to our children, and looking into their eyes,” she said.

Brother Jan E. Newman focused on teaching in the Savior’s way. “To be truly life-changing, conversion to Jesus Christ must involve our whole soul and permeate every aspect of our lives,” he said.

Elder Gary E. Stevenson taught that kindness is a fundamental, healing principle of the gospel. “The Lord expects [Latter-day Saints] to teach that inclusion is a positive means towards unity, and that exclusion leads to division,” he said.

Citing the Savior’s invitation to all to become like Him, Elder Gerrit W. Gong asked Latter-day Saints to make Christ’s inn — His Church — a refuge for all from life’s storms. “We prepare for His promised Second Coming as each day we do unto the ‘least of these’ as we would unto Him. The ‘least of these’ is each of us.”

President Henry B. Eyring encouraged Church members to increase their desire to be worthy and ready for the increased opportunities for temple experiences that are coming. “The temple is a holy place where revelation comes to us easily if our hearts are open to it and we are worthy of it,” he said.

Saturday Afternoon Session

President M. Russell Ballard spoke about single members of the Church “who make up more than half of the adults in the Church today.”

“Some wonder about their opportunities and place in God’s plan and in the Church,” he said. “We should understand that eternal life is not simply a question of current marital status but of discipleship and being ‘valiant in the testimony of Jesus’” (Doctrine and Covenants 76:79).

Stake and ward leaders should call on single members “to serve, lift and teach,” he continued.

Elder Holland Jeffrey R. Holland noted that today, conflict, contention and general incivility abound.

The instruments needed to “create a brighter day” can be found in the gospel of Jesus Christ, Elder Holland testified. “We cannot afford — and this world cannot afford — our failure to put these gospel concepts and fortifying covenants to full use personally and publicly.”

Elder Dale G. Renlund spoke of the “infuriating unfairness” of the world but testified that “in the eternities, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will resolve all unfairness.”

Each child of God’s journey, Elder Neil L. Andersen testified, did not begin “as the first flow of earth’s air came rushing” into their lungs, and it will not end when they take their last breath of mortality. “May we welcome [each spirit child of God], safeguard them and always love them,” he said.

President Nelson has invited all to “keep on the covenant path” and follow the Savior, he said. For those who have stepped off the path, please come back. There is a place prepared for all in the Lord’s Church.

“In each ward and branch we need everyone – those who may be strong and those who are struggling. All are necessary and vital to the edification of the entire body of Christ,” Elder Jorge T. Becerra said.

While Elder Thierry K. Mutombo was growing up, he lived with his family in a home that “was not only small in size but it was a dark place.” After meeting with the missionaries and being baptized, his family adopted a new lifestyle centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ and “truly became a family.”

“Jesus Christ is the light that we should hold up even during the dark times of our mortal life (3 Nephi 18:24). When we choose to follow Christ, we choose to be changed,” he said.

In his session-concluding remarks, President Nelson shared four key lessons for his worldwide audience:

  1. The home is the center of faith and worship.
  2. We need each other.
  3. Your priesthood quorum is meant for more than just a meeting.
  4. We hear Jesus Christ better when we are still.

“The future is bright for God’s covenant-keeping people,” he said. “The Lord will increasingly call upon His servants who worthily hold the priesthood to bless, comfort and strengthen mankind and help prepare the world and its people for His Second Coming.”

President Dallin H. Oaks testified that the resurrected Savior has done everything needed for a successful journey through mortality and eternal salvation.

“Our Savior willingly experienced all mortal pains and infirmities that He would know how to succor or strengthen us in our affiliations,” he said. “Jesus Christ did all of this because He loves all the children of God.”

President Eyring taught that the priesthood is given out of love — and that the Lord blesses service given in His name.

“Your rising up and magnifying the priesthood matter to Him because He loves you and He trusts you to bless people He loves in His name,” he said.

Elder Quentin L. Cook discussed the shepherding role bishops play in the lives of the people they serve, particularly the young people of the Church.

“[Bishops], you can extend powerful invitations to change behavior, prepare them for life and inspire them to stay on the covenant path,” he said.

Elder S. Gifford Nielsen encouraged listeners to see themselves as they are seen by their Heavenly Father.

“Have you ever thought of loving yourself as a commandment?” he asked. “Can we truly love God and love His children if we don’t love ourselves?”

Brother Ahmad S. Corbitt asked the young men of the Church how they can “awaken your giant faith in Christ” and use it to gather Israel.

“He mainly uses the Book of Mormon and His prophets to teach us how,” he said.
