Though a haze hung heavily over Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sept 26, twenty women from the Relief Society organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had a clear goal in mind; that was to provide selfless service for the Trinity Children's Home by donating food and providing activities for the children. The Relief Society is the women's organization of the Church whose motto is "Charity Never Faileth". This project provided an opportunity to put that motto into action.

Relief Society is the oldest and largest women's organization in the world. Its purpose is to build faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and homes, and to help those in need. On March 17, 1842 Joseph Smith taught that Relief Society was organized "for the relief of the poor, the destitute, the widow and the orphan, and for the exercise of all benevolent purposes." In addition, he taught that the Relief Society was "not only to relieve the poor, but to save souls"
Trinity Children's Home is a non-profit organization helping orphans, abused, abandoned and neglected children. During the past 15 years they have provided care and a "home" for over 180 children under the age of 18. Their goal is to provide security, safety and a foundation for the children so they can become successful adults.
The Relief Society women enjoyed sharing with the children. Cookies for the group were provided by Luisa Rama and Ludi Wong taught the children to make paper lanterns from Chinese "red packet" envelopes. Miriko made beautiful origami paper craft objects and presented them to the children.
Ms. Mary Moses, committee member at Trinity, expressed her gratitude to the Relief Society women for their donation of food items, visit and for organizing activities for the children. One of the children, John, shared how he and his siblings love to stay in the Home as they have food on the table and are able to learn various skills there. After visiting with the children, the women from the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints left full of humility and satisfaction as they saw the result of their service project - the smiling faces of children.
When asked how women can live the Relief Society motto, a woman replied "It is simple. Charity never Faileth. Helping other people with no thought of reward is the most amazing job one will ever find the world."
