“Family is central to everything we do in this life and in the plan of God,” says Elder Gérald Caussé in the latest episode of the “Friend to Friend” video series for children from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints titled “The Family Is of God,” released on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

“I testify that Jesus is the Christ,” testifies Elder Caussé, “that our Heavenly Father wants our eternal happiness, and that happiness is best achieved as we live as eternal families, as we support one another, as we feel loved by our parents and by our siblings.”

Along with the Primary General Presidency, Elder Caussé of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Valérie, teach about the importance of families.

The video is available to watch on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, in the Gospel Library or on the four Gospel for Kids YouTube channels in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

In the video, the Caussés share one of their favorite family traditions by making French crêpes with child hosts Millie and Leki.

“As we get together, have fun together, we develop our relationships as a family, which are so important,” teaches Elder Caussé as they add and mix ingredients and cook and eat the crepes.

Sister Caussé explains that, like different ingredients in a recipe, different characters, personalities, talents and skills in a family create something beautiful.

Because siblings are some of the most important people in our lives, Elder Caussé says it is important to have a good relationship with them.

“Nobody is perfect, and sometimes there are imperfect times in families, but we keep trying, right?” he says. “As we prepare food together, we can have beautiful discussions together. We can talk about how, as a family, we can live the gospel together and how we can follow the example of Jesus Christ.”

With Elder Caussé accompanying on the piano, the Caussés share another of their family traditions by inviting Millie, Leki, and a few more children to sing “Families Can Be Together Forever” with them.

Elder Caussé then introduces his granddaughters, Alice and Héloïse, who join via video from France to sing the same song with them in French.

“Whatever our family circumstances, I know that we are all daughters and sons of loving heavenly parents,” says Sister Caussé. “We are sent to earth in families that are not always perfect, but I know that if we have love one for another, we can progress together and build unity through the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ.”

As one of their first assignments, President Rosemary K. Chibota and counselors Sister Nina M. Garfield and Sister Theresa A. Collins, who were sustained during April general conference and began serving on August 1, talk about the special role families have in Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness for all of His children.

“You are important to your family, and your family is important to you,” says Sister Garfield.

“All families are different,” says Sister Collins, “and that’s a beautiful thing. The Family: A Proclamation to the World teaches that families can learn together, have fun together, and become more like Jesus Christ together.”
