Sunday, June 17, 2018, The Pure Life Society (PLS) held a groundbreaking event on their campus hill south of The Temple of the Universal Spirit, where they planned a staged complex to better meet their needs and expand services offered.
For almost 70 years, “PLS has performed relief work among the poor, orphans and displaced children of Malaysia,” said Mother Mangalam, Life President of PLS. “It has promoted multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religious understanding through lectures, conferences, forums, and dramas.”

PLS has encouraged the Interfaith Spiritual Fellowship (InSaF), and the Committee of Spiritual Advancement (CSA) as organizations promoting religious understanding among the diverse racial, cultural and religious groups of Malaysia. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) is an active participant in these groups.
At the groundbreaking, invited interfaith friends included The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Buddhists, Baha’i, Sikhs, and Hindus. Leaders of each group offered prayers, performed symbolic document signing, and posed for photos.
Video presentations and a speech by Mother Mangalam were received in The Temple. Mother, as she is affectionately known, quoted Swami Satyananda, the PLS founder regarding the need to expand saying, “He encouraged us to live simply, but to think highly.”
